Folk and Rock Carnival 2026
Rock, Folk, and a Reason to Celebrate!
Some events you attend and forget by the next morning. This wasn’t one of them.
The Folk and Rock Carnival 2026, organized by our 7th semester BA-IHTM and BA-ICA students, the 2022 batch came together at Walnut Bistro, Panipokhari, and from the first hour, it was clear this was going to be something worth remembering.
Live performances that kept energy in the room. Flash dances that appeared from nowhere and had everyone on their feet. Games where the cheering got louder than it probably should have. Food, drinks, music, and somewhere in the middle of all of it - genuine joy. The Folk and Rock theme wasn’t decorative. It was felt. Traditional and modern, woven together without forcing either. That balance is harder to pull off than it looks.
Behind every moment of it was months of work that most people in the room never saw.
These students planned, coordinated, negotiated, solved problems, disagreed, regrouped, and kept going. The event didn’t happen because of talent alone. It happened because of commitment. And that kind of commitment, the persistent, unglamorous kind, is exactly what we try to build here.
But here’s what gave the day its real weight.
The Carnival was a fundraiser for Pack for Purpose. Every year, students step beyond the classroom and travel to government schools in underprivileged regions of Nepal, bringing basic educational supplies to children who need them. It is not a grand gesture. It is a steady, deliberate one. And this carnival was how the 2022 batch chose to contribute to it.
Every ticket. Every donation. Every cheering crowd member. All of it added up to something that will reach a child sitting in a classroom far from Kathmandu.
That’s the part that stays with you.
We talk often about education being more than a degree. About students becoming people who contribute, not just people who succeed. The Folk and Rock Carnival 2026 was a small, bright example of what that actually looks like in practice.
Loud, joyful, well-executed. And underneath all of it, a reason.
