I got the opportunity to do my first internship in Top Golf Dubai at the loft bar. It was a great learning experience during my first internship. A bar internship was a great way to gain hands-on experience in the hospitality industry. As an intern, I had the opportunity to learn about different types of spirits, mixology techniques, and customer service. I was likely to be working under the supervision of experienced bartenders and managers, and also had opportunity to learn from them as well. This internship also helped me to learn important skills such as time management, teamwork, and customer service. All thanks to Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management for providing me this opportunity to gain real-world experience and also I’m very grateful to every associates of Top Golf Dubai for making my internship unforgettable.
It was my 1st internship which was fun and informative. I got to explore my abilities and skill. It made me confident and help me to get out of my comfort zone. I became open minded, humble, and learnt to embrace different religion, race, and culture. To be away from your country, home and work into completely new place and environment was not easy but eventually with the support of my team, colleagues the journey went smoothly. This internship taught me it is very important to be independent and stand on your own abilities. You will reach to your goal with your consistent effort and hard work.
I recently completed a six-month internship at Top Golf in Dubai. It was my first time working as an intern abroad in a respectable company. I appreciate my college for giving me such opportunities. In terms of people, job, surroundings, cuisine, and pretty much everything else, the internship experience was unlike anything I had ever felt or experienced. I spent six months working as a bay host in the f and b department. I gained the most valuable knowledge from interacting with the guests, solving their complaints, and dealing under pressure. One of the best aspects of working at this property was getting to connect with associates and work in teams in addition to interacting with guests. After all, the goal of any hotel is to exceed guest’s expectations. For someone who has never worked in a real industry, working 9 to 10 hours a day was no joke. And even after that, there were situations where we get lectures from our superiors, which pisses us. But I soon discovered that's what atrue industry is. I also had the opportunity to work five days as a cashier at the DP world tournament, a professional golf tour and championship.
Most of my days I worked at the evening shift till closing and it was the time when the guest flow was high and I felt the real pressure. I was quite disappointed about eating supper at 5 p.m. and not having anything to eat until 2 p.m., but after becoming friends with the chefs and seniors, I realized how important it is to eat secretly when no one is looking for your own good. That is a fun part of working in the f and b department. There were both happy and unhappy moments. Getting appreciated for my works from guests, managers, and seniors definitely encouraged me to improve. There were moments when guests yelled at me or tried to make joke of me for absolutely no reason, but that is when I learnt to stand up for myself. There have been times when I've thought I can't take it anymore. However, my willingness to keep going is what moved me forward. I've had guests who have thrown tantrums and complained to my manager about the most silly errors, but I've also encountered guests who have hugged me, appreciated my job, left me a 500 dirham tip, returned to this company and asked to see me, and have left positive reviews.
Making friends with people from other countries, getting to know them, connecting with them, overcoming language problems with the guests, and receiving the salary were all enjoyable aspects of the internship. However, my favorite activities include going to the beach after work, sitting on a bench and asking everyone how their day was, taking late-night walks, discovering new areas, and receiving my first salary. Although I had completely neutral feeling when I first set foot in Dubai, the final day there was really sad. We hugged, we cried and we said last goodbyes to most of the people. I will always treasure those memories. It was a very wonderful experience. I'm a better person now because of the laughter, tears, learning, and standing up for myself that I experienced.

We take a great pleasure in recommending Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH). Since November 2018, two properties have had good relationship that there were already having been three groups of students came to the LN Garden Hotel, Guangzhou for internship. However, since Nepalese trainees have joined our hotel, there a lot of positive influence for us. Most SMSH students’ work ethic and attitude were exemplary regardless of the task at hand. Although they face language barriers at the beginning, they try to overcome it and learn Chinese from their colleagues and books. Moreover, they are energetic to join hotel activities and students eagerness to learn, knowledge of the position such as the menu, Opera system or Standard of Procedure (SOP). This cooperation elevated the cross-culture communication between two nations within our hotel. Students try their best to overcome some cultural issues like food, language and ways of living, and engage Cantonese life culture. Chinese colleagues are able to learn Nepalese customs and set up good friendship with who have different culture background. Our hotel is the only cooperated enterprise with SMSH in Guangzhou, therefore, this program creates a lots of sparkling things toward our hotel, especially cultural exchange, service enhancement and business development. Meanwhile, subjects are more practical for students, thus, they could use practice knowledge and skills that they learn from the campus into their job. Students of SMSH like Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, Front Office Practical, help students to get familiar with the departmental SOP quickly and provide qualified service to our guests. They also reached a new achievement in communication, teamwork and problem solving. In sum, we are highly appreciated to have this wonderful chance to cooperate with SMSH and respect all teachers and students for their friendliness, profession and organized during collaborated period. Hopefully, we will have further long-term cooperation to continue greater success.

Upon completion of their training once can see that the trainees have changed overall since the first time they started. They not only develop their skills in their future work in the industry. Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management '' is one of the best colleges in Nepal, which provide a four year Bachelor Degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management in affiliation with Queen Margaret University. I still remember how they briefed me about college and its infrastructures. I was curious as well as nervous about my interview, but honestly speaking, it made me more confident in choosing this college. More than that, all the teams like the marketing team, the academic team, and even our security team are the best mentors. They just don’t regulate the rules of the college, but also help us in need as a friend. Before joining this college, I was a very shy person. By going through the uncomfortable situation, I became very frank and bold after joining the school. I am very thankful to the team members who helped me to get skills and knowledge about the industry and taught me to be a better person.

After studying at Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management for more than 2 years, I can rightfully say that it is one of the best colleges in the country. This college had helped me turn into a proper hospitality professional. I can honestly express myself that passion for hospitality will turn into reality here. The study environment for studying is enjoyable and lovely. The teachers are well experienced and friendly. Everyone taught us in a very disciplined and professional way. I enjoyed the practical sessions held in the training restaurant which give us a real-world vibe. I acknowledge the internships are the best way to execute our theoretical knowledge and practical session experiences into action. I finished my internship from LN Garden Hotel, Guangzhou, China and Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu, Nepal. It helped me to reflect and learn from my strengths and weaknesses. It was challenging, but made me realize that my passion can turn into reality if I work hard.
