Graduation ceremony is not just a yearly event in our academic calendar. Its about celebrations, gratitude and progress. We, along with all the parents, come together with all graduates and well wisher to acknowledge journey so far and cherish each and every one and moments attach to it. This is also a beginning of a new journey.
Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH) celebrated its 12th Graduation Ceremony on June 17, 2018, at Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu.
In all, 68 students were present for graduation who received Bachelor degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management from Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH) in affiliation Queen Margaret University (QMU), UK. Our chief guest Dr. Richard Butt, Deputy Principal, QMU distributed certificates and awards to our students. SMSH is affiliated to QMU, a 140 year old university in Scotland, U.K.
During the ceremony, Mr. Karna Shakya, veteran hotelier & writer, conservationist and social worker of Nepal gave an inspiring speech to the outgoing students and emphasized on increasing tourism opportunities inside the country and the need of young graduates to serve the country. Mr. Richard Butt congratulated the students on the completion of their course and also talked about how the school is helping to build skilled manpower for the country and the tourism industry worldwide.
Mr. Samir Thapa, Chairman & Principal of the school talked about the school's achievements and its new feather in Silver Mountain's Cap i.e. the inauguration of 28th branch of University Del Café, Italy at Silver Mountain, Nepal. He emphasized on how Silver Mountain being the member of UN Global Compact is practicing Sustainable Development Goals in our daily practice and also adding Tourism Research Centre in the school. He further explained how Silver Mountain on its own small way is contributing in producing skilled manpower for the country which will help in country's 4500 new room being added in 3 years.
Mr.Sunil Khanal was honored with "Best Teacher Award"; Ms. Mallika Thapa was recognized for his performance as "Best Employee" and Ms. Ojaswi Shrestha and Mr. Sanjay Banset were awarded the "Outstanding Student of the Year" at Hotel Management School.
Mr. Prakash Pandey was felicitated, who recently climbed Mt. Everest and carried Silver Mountain's flag on the top of the summit.Mr. Prithivi Malla, young talented golfer who has won more than 200 trophies and accolades on his portfolio was honored and named the "Silver Mountain's youth ambassador".
