Queen Margaret University is proud to be the first UK university to offer a British degree delivered face-to-face in Nepal, through our well established partnership with Silver Mountain.
Together with Silver Mountain, we are enhancing educational provision for young people in Nepal, and building the status of the hospitality and tourism sector within the country and beyond.Silver Mountain shares much of the same ethos as Queen Margaret University, in that it strives to serve the community in which it is based and to produce students who are equipped to make a difference to society.
The institution now known as Queen Margaret University dates back to 1875. Throughout our history we have been dedicated to improving people's lives and serving the community. We were founded to address the pressing social and economic problems facing Victorian society. Today, we are a forward-thinking university which prepares graduates for useful careers. The relevant and practical education that we offer is underpinned by high quality research. In short, we are a university of ideas and influence.
We have academic flagships in sustainable business (including tourism and hospitality); creativity and culture; and health and rehabilitation. Our expertise in sustainable business informs every aspect of our teaching in international hospitality and tourism.
We pride ourselves on our international reach. A high percentage of our students are international and our courses are taught at centres in India, Singapore, Greece and the Middle East as well as in Nepal. Teaching at these centres focuses primarily on our renowned programmes in hospitality and tourism, and nursing.
With the growth of hospitality and tourism in Nepal, and indeed across the globe, Queen Margaret University graduates from Silver Mountain have excellent foundations on which to build a fulfilling career. Indeed our graduates are amongst the most sought after in the world of work.
We consider our students and graduates of Silver Mountain as an important part of the Queen Margaret University community, and our international reach and influence extends through their successes.
